EU GDPR Compliance

What is GDPR about ?
The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is the new EU regulation that replaces the EU Data Protection Directive (DPD) of 1995. Its purpose is to strengthen data protection and privacy rights of all European citizens and to increase the obligations of the companies that collect and process personal data. It will apply from 25 May 2018. It is based on many requirements of the Directive of 1995 concerning the data confidentiality and protection, but includes as well new legal provisions aiming at increasing the rights of the persons concerned and to harden penalties applicable to infringements.
The full text of the GDPR is available at the address http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/FR/TXT/HTML/?uri=CELEX:32016R0679 and a glossary with all the legal terms you may need can be found there.
